It’s an Anything Goes challenge this week at Die Cuttin’ Divas, woo hoo!!

My neighbor just passed her EMT test and the test to drive the ambulance!  We’re so proud of her and so I wanted to make her a special card to congratulate her.  This is what I came up with:

I used the ambulance from My Scrap Chick’s Medical Bears set and a photo taken from her facebook page to create this personalized shape card.  I love shape cards!  So much fun to make and receive.

The Merry Christmas Challenge #21 – Holly and Ivy

Welcome to challenge 21 for The Merry Christmas Challenge Blog.  It’s always anything (Christmas) goes, but there is an optional theme each week.  This week it’s holly and ivy.
I made a card to add to my 2018 stash.The beautiful branch and birdhouse is from the Cricut cartridge, Winter Frolic, and the sentiment is from 3 Birds on Parade.  I just love that font!  I know what font it is, and you can get it for free at Dafont.  It’s Santa’s Sleigh.  It’s so elegant!!

DCD Turtle Day

How fun!  I never knew there was a turtle day, but I guess there’s a day for just about everything, huh?  We are celebrating turtles this week at Die Cuttin’ Divas and we hope you’ll join us!

For my project, I used Miss Kate’s Cuttables’ Sea Turtle.  I also decommissioned this box, which I had a blast making but then had no use for, and came up with this cute card. The gree and tan patterned paper is also a left over.  The only “new” thing was the turtle.  He was so cute, I had to make him!

Cut it Up – Cats or Dogs?

Dogs.  Definitely dogs.  Enough said.
(I don’t want to get myself in trouble . . .)

Which do you prefer?  That’s the question this challenge at Cut it Up.

I made this swing card for my neighbors whose dog had to be euthanized after being on death’s door for almost a year.  (I looked after this dog when they went away on vacation last summer and they left a shovel in the back yard just in case.)  Anyway, even though it was expected, it hurt nonetheless.  The family is so sad.  I thought I’d let them know we were thinking of them.

The card is made using the Sizzix Card Circle Flip-its #2 die set and stamps from the Fetching Friendship stamp set by Newton’s Nook, one of our sponsors for this challenge.  The paper is retired from Close to My Heart.

My Little Craft Blog doesn’t seem so “little” anymore!  It certainly took awhile (I started this blog in 2010) but I just hit the 200 email followers!  I’m grateful for each of you.  Thank you for taking the time to read my posts and look at my creations.

PDE Challenges #20 – Photo Inspiration

It’s a photo challenge this week at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges featuring a perfect springtime activity – bike riding!  The only kind of bike I ride anymore is the stationary bike in my basement.  I have many skills, but staying upright on a bicycle is not one of them!

This cute 6 x 6 card uses the Basket Full of . . . stamp by Unity Stamp Company.  It’s one of those Itty Bitty stamps but I don’t see it on their site anymore.  Shame.  It’s adorable!!

I used Artist’s Loft watercolor pencils and a water brush to color it, and cut it out with the Avery Elle Burst Die on my Cuttlebug.  The gingham paper has been in my scraps stash for years now.

Die Cuttin’ Divas – Favorite Color Combination

What’s your favorite color combination?  That’s the question this week at Die Cuttin Divas. If you ask what is my favorite color, that’s easy: brown.  Second favorite is orange.   However, I’m not all that skilled with putting colors together, but you know who is?  Mother Nature!  So I took my inspiration from her – greens and browns!  I used greens and browns to make some scrapbook pages about hiking.We love to hike in the woods and often see bears there.  One time, a bear was right in our camp, ruffling through our backpacks even though all the food and soap had been hung away in a bear bag!Scrambling up rocks is the most fun of all!

The tree border is from the Zoobaloo cartridge.  The hiking boot is from Miss Kate’s Cuttables Hiking Boots.  The font is from Suburbia.  Sorry, but I can’t remember where that awesome bear is from.  😦

Off my needles (in case you were wondering!)

In this post I showed you several knitting projects I was working on.  I got most of their knitting done on a trip to New Jersey to see family that weekend, then blocked and ends woven in by the end of that week.  Here are the FOs (finished objects.)

I made two red hats;had enough wool to make long sleeves on the yellow sweater;and finished this little sweater, too.  When I finished the body I knew I didn’t have enough of the light color to finish the sleeves, but I wanted them to be symmetrical so, using my kitchen scale, I divided what I had left into two little balls of the same weight.It took me a bit longer to fix the sleeves on my daughter’s sweater, but it’s finished and I even knitted up a matching Milo vest for her daughter!  🙂Since then I’ve completed one other Milo (Milo May is in full swing!!) using leftovers from another sweaterand started three more.  I’ll finish the coral one today!Knitting is so much fun!  ♡

The Merry Christmas Challenge #19 – Plaid

Here’s my latest Christmas card following The Merry Christmas Challenge‘s optional theme of Plaid.  I used a very old digital paper from the French Countryside collection by Traci Sims.  It’s so old, the link I had for her website doesn’t work anymore.  I filled the A2 Flip Swing Christmas Tree Card by Lori Whitlock with the plaid paper from the French Countryside collection and printed/cut.  I used the dropper to choose colors from the plaid paper to color the layers of the Christmas tree.I love the colors in this collection – non-traditional for Christmas!!

Die Cuttin’ Divas – Teacher Appreciation

Teacher Appreciation week at Die Cuttin’ Divas this week!  Time to celebrate teachers and recognize them for all their hard work.  If you’re not a teacher yourself or have a close relationship to one, you may not even be aware of the long hours and sleepless nights they endure.  I am a retired middle school science teacher who is very happily enjoying her retirement.  When I retired, I not only got back my days, but also my mornings before school, evenings and Sundays.  I always took Saturdays “off.”  And I also get more sleep — don’t have to set an alarm and no more waking up in the middle of the night worrying about this student or that one.   So my hat’s off to all you teachers out there.  I know you’re looking forward to your well-deserved summer break.This is a hybrid card – some digi elements, some die cuts.  They’re almost the same.  I wonder if you can spot the difference.  I started out designing the card on my Silhouette Design Studio software by bringing in the Cute Sun and Clouds by Miss Kate’s Cuttables and Bugaboo’s Lil Kitty on a Tree, and added my sentiment in Summertime and Summertime Oblique fonts.  On the card on the right, I added an internal offset and made it a dashed line.  The other one was left plain.  Then I printed and cut them both out.

I cut the card on the left using my Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangle die.  The largest die in that set that also cuts out the rectangle was smaller than the one I created in Design Studio so I had to use an extra mat.I used the printed out cards to help assemble the sun.So that’s it for my Teacher Appreciation cards!  Hope to see your projects at Die Cuttin’ Divas this week.  The teachers you give them to will appreciate your thinking of them!  🙂
