On my needles

I knit for all sorts of reasons.  Sometimes I’m inspired by a specific technique, pattern, or yarn; sometimes I need something mindless to do while watching TV or on road trips; sometimes I knit for special people or for charities; and sometimes I want to use up the yarn in my stash.  I almost always have more than one project going on because, like I said, some knitting is mindless and some requires my complete attention.  Right now I have four projects on my needles.

I’m making red hats for the American Heart Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign.  This is an ongoing project.  I try to knit one per month. This project is to use up that beautiful yellow wool that I got for half price when my local yarn shop went out of business.  I had two skeins.  It will be enough for a little sweater, hopefully long-sleeved, but sleeve length will depend upon how much yarn I have. This is also a project to use up leftover yarn.  I don’t know why I bought so much of this so long ago, but this is the third sweater I made with it.  It’ll definitely be gone when this is finished!  And check out those gorgeous red wooden needles (new!!)This is the last project I have going.  I knit this sweater for my daughter years ago following a pattern written in the 1980s.  Turns out the upper arms of sweaters in the 80s were HUGE!!  She never wore it and finally admitted to me that it was because of the sleeves, so I’m re-knitting them to be much slimmer.

So that’s what I’m working on now!  The first three can be knitted while doing other things, but that blue Aran sweater requires my full attention AND a stitch counter to help me keep my place.♡ Tons of fun!!

About Evelyn

I created this little blog so that I could have a place to show different crafts that I make for my family, my friends, my students, and myself! I have always enjoyed crafting. I particularly love paper, and that's what I'm currently working with.
