6 x 6 paper pack fun

A few crafty friends and I challenged ourselves to reduce our 6 x 6 paper pad collection by using one up completely.  I thought about making a mini album or gift card holders with mine, but finally decided to make Christmas cards.  I chose this paper pad, Merry Little Christmas by Pebbles, which my husband got me for Christmas, because it has cut-aparts.  I decided to do just a few basic designs.

Besides the cut-aparts, I printed and cut a cute little Hello Kitty Christmas caroler that I have saved on my computer and put her on a music-embossed oval for some other cards.

I didn’t want them all to be just ordinary A-2 style cards but didn’t want them to be so complicated that it took days and days to complete.  Z-fold and gate fold styles fit the bill.  These are the measurements I used to create those.

Here are the gate folds.  The deer head is a punch. There were lots of 2″ strips left — perfect for z-folds.

Oops! Looks like one gate fold snuck into this photo!

Here are a couple of close up shots of individual cards.  Since they’re mostly the same, I’ll only post a few.

I got 47 Christmas cards from that one pack.  That’s about half of what I need, so hopefully, I’ll have the gumption to do this again soon and finish the rest.

June, Larelyn, Leslie, and Treva also challenged themselves to use up one of their paper pads.  Here’s a sneak peek, but check their blogs for details.

Christmas cards were such a great idea and look at the wonderful collection you now have. Oooo, I like the idea of gift card holders as well – that may be my next challenge. Thanks for this fun challenge although it may me realize what a paper waster I am. You ladies rocked with the number of cards you made!
    Hugs,

    Eveyln,
Your cards are adorable and wow 47 cards makes me think I wasted a lot of paper, love your cards. Thank you for the suggestion of us taking on this challenge and I learned quite a bit so the next I should be better prepared. The single most important thing is that I should take pictures as I create. Thanks again, wishing you and yours a wonderful Easter.
