I got this wonderful set, At the Beach Sentiments. At first I was at a loss what to do with it. Why? I hate going (as we Jerseyans say) “down the shore.” The wind never stops blowing!! I much prefer the mountains . . . However I thought about it a bit and lakes have beaches. I like that! Alright. The creative juices started to flow.
I wanted to create a card using the Triple Circle Flip-its by Sizzix that has been languishing in my physical die shoebox. (I bought three of these sets when flip cards were all the rage.)
And I wanted to work with Kraft paper. I thought I remembered a technique where people stamp on Kraft paper with clear ink and it looks real nice. I tried it and it was a dud, so then I thought to do heat embossing. This was my third attempt and I’m still unsatisfied with it, so this isn’t the project I’m showcasing but I’ll show you anyway since I put in all that time and effort:The sandals come one next to the other but I wanted to make them look like someone was walking so I cut them apart. To separate the sentiment, I used a post-it to mask the parts I didn’t want stamped. The embossing powder stayed in spots it shouldn’t have, even though I used one of those powder packages. Overall, this card is a fail.
So I tried again. I decided to make a tiny mini-album following this super simple tutorial from My Sister’s Scrapper. This isn’t the first time I’ve made these little cuties. You can see other examples here. I think I used every stamp in the set!The little sun on the front is from Miss Kate Cuttables, an old freebie file called Sun 4/28/17. I used the scallop die in the Flip-its set to shape the front cover. I’ll be able to put photos from my family’s recent trip to Lake Lure, NC, in this mini!
Head on over to Cut it Up to check out the other sentiment projects, then link up your own! The prize for this challenge from Scrapping for Less is 3 sentiment stamps!!
