Cut it Up Birthdays

We’re celebrating Birthdays at Cut it Up this week with awesome dies from our sponsor, Spellbinders!  I’m working with the Birthday Animals set.   Each animal is donning a birthday hat!

For the last few weeks, I was really in the mood to make a toilet paper roll album because they’re so much fun so I placed three rolls under some books to flatten them and waited for inspiration to strike.  Score!!

To close off the bottoms, I cut 2 x 1 pieces of scrap card stock and scored down the middle.  I used red tape to adhere them to the inside of the TP rolls.  That way, the entire length of the rolls are open for my tags.  I used a paper pad from Echo Park called Birthday wishes to wrap my TP rolls.  Because the papers are busy, I decided to make the animal silhouettes black.  To be sure they adhered well and didn’t have any loose edges, I “painted” them with white liquid glue using a Q-tip.For my second project, I made a birthday card using the same die set and patterned paper from the same paper pack, plus a scrap of green card stock.  I tried to create a scene of a kitchen with a birthday cake on the table waiting for the party to begin and a hopeful puppy looking up at it.  I used ribbon for a chair rail. The puppy and the teal background layer are from the paper pack, the cake plate is cut from silver glitter paper, and the cake and table are cut from white card stock.  I used Decorating Chalks from Close to My heart to color the cake.Pop on over to Cut it Up to see what the other Design Team members made with their dies.  Some of us got the same ones, so it’ll be cool to compare projects!  Then link up your own birthday project.  One random entrant will receive a generous $25 store credit from Spellbinders!  It could be you!
