Cut it Up Picnics

It’s getting to be picnic weather around here!  I prefer springtime picnics to summer ones because it’s a little cooler and there are fewer bugs flying around trying to bite me!

It’s a picnic challenge over at Cut it Up and our awesome sponsor this time around is
A Day for Daisies.  I chose this adorable fairy, Bitsy Bug Rosa, to work with!  Fairies go to picnics, right??

I made a rocker card for this challenge, mainly due to the shape of the Watermelon Slice, which is a file from Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons.  I’m not the world’s greatest colorer, so I brought Rosa into the Silhouette Design Studio software and traced her.  Then I clicked on her and selected Object, Release Compound Path. That separated all her parts.

I clicked on each of the inner circles on her dress and deleted them.Next I clicked on the dress and, holding the shift key, one of the big circles.  I clicked Object, Modify, Subtract.  That made a hole in the dress.  I did that for each big circle, and I did the same thing for her eyes.  Then I clicked on each element and colored them with the Fill tool.  Clicking on her antennas selected the bottom-most layer, which is the background and all the lines.  I colored that black.  Finally, I grouped everything together, made an offset, printed, and chose Cut Edge in the Send menu.  I think she turned out cute!!  🙂  I printed/cut four of these little fairies, so I have three more to play with.

Hope you join us for our Picnic challenge over at Cut it Up.  You could be the winner of an $8 gift card from A Day for Daisies!
