It’s a new challenge at Cut it Up — Butterflies and Bugs. Our sponsor is Dreaming Tree. I used two of their free files for my project, Gerbera Daisy Tea Light and Butterfly Favor Box.
The butterfly is from the favor box. I had a lot of fun putting it together. I used the Release Compound Path command in Silhouette Design Studio to eliminate parts of its wings so I could make them different colors, then layered them. I made a .01 offset for a shadow and taped and glued a piece of jewelry wire between the butterfly and its shadow so it could look like it’s flying over the flower! 🙂
The flower was super easy to put together, but I had to wait until I picked up my tea lights as I had run out. I didn’t know it when I bought them, but they turn different colors!! Wish they were just plain white.
Check out the swarm of butterflies and bugs over at Cut it Up, then link up your own project! The prize is a $15 gift certificate from Dreaming Tree!

Love your project, great idea using the jewelry wire. I really need to learn to do more with my machines!
So, so cute with that little guy hovering above the light and I’m with Treva…I like the different colors!
