Die Cuttin’ Divas – Birthday Celebrations

The theme this week for Die Cuttin Divas is Birthday Celebrations!   I wanted to include  balloons on my birthday project this week.  My granddaughter, who is two and a half, already knows that birthdays include balloons!  They go hand in hand.  🙂

It was really easy to choose an image.  I knew there’d be something cute on the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge and there was – an adorable bird holding a balloon!  And I wanted something a little different than a plain A2 card, so I checked out Wild Card and chose the one with the square window on page 35.   Here are my adorable cards:

Did you ever have one of those projects that just dragged on forever?  Everything that could go wrong does go wrong?  My balloon birthday cards were one of those projects.  First of all, I struggle with color.  I never know what goes with what.  Here are all my attempts.  Blue bird, orange bird, green balloon, pink chest feathers, green chest feathers, orange card front . . .Goodness!

Then when I finally made all my final color choices, I got to stamping.  I covered each word in turn on my Happy Birthday stamp to get Happy and Birthday on two lines.  I even used my MISTI, but oh, oh.  Ruined the second one.I decided to be fancy and type Happy Bird-day on my computer.  I used the Lil’ Inkers’ Stitched Rectangle die to cut that out to cover my stamping mistake. I used a border punch for the grass.  That’s my saga, my tale of crafting woe.

Hope you join us at Die Cuttin’ Divas!

Evelyn –The card is adorable, and she will LOVE the bird and balloon!   This is why I don’t do many stamping things.  Even with my Misti (while it is lots better than without it!), I screw up… Such is life!,  but how do some people get their items to look so professional (yours always do!)     Jayne
