The challenge this week at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges is Color it – color an image, color your background . . .
Coloring is challenging for me, but I think I really pulled it off this time! I used the hints and tips my son-in-law gave me about coloring with colored pencils. I used my Crayola colored pencils and an adorable image called Dreamin’ Birds by Birdie Brown, whose shop is closed now. I had a lot of fun making these cards, right from the get-go! Continuing on my quest to use all the Paper Play Sketches, this card follows sketch #11. I do have Lil’ Inkers stitched rectangle dies, but I didn’t use them. Instead, I made an A2-sized rectangle in Silhouette Design Studio, gave it an internal offset, and changed the style of the offset line to a dashed line. That gave me the look of stitching on the rectangle. I have a grass svg saved on my computer, so I brought that in, colored it green, and typed Happy Spring on it in Summertime font. I wanted the grass sides and bottom to also have the stitched look so I copied and pasted the dashed line from the rectangle and placed it over my grass, then used the knife and eraser tools to eliminate all the dashes that fell above the grass line. (Doesn’t seem to show on the photos, though. Hmmm.)
Next I brought in the bird image and placed it where I wanted it on the card, and printed and cut the whole shebang. The next step was coloring. I wanted each of the birds to be different and to represent real birds. This website, 12 Colorful Birds from Around the World, gave me my inspiration.
- Kingfisher
- Japanese White-Eye Bird
- Eastern Yellow Robin
This first card features the Kingfisher. The second one is the Japanese White-Eye Bird.
And the last one shows the Eastern Yellow Robin.
We’d love to see your colored images at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges this week!
