The challenge this week at Die Cuttin’ Divas is pretty broad; we want to see your holiday-inspired projects! That’s what you’ve been working on, right?? 🙂 Since my Day 19 is Ornaments day, that’s what I made!
Here’s mine. It’s an ornament box from Dreaming Tree. It’s SO pretty! I really love the blue sample one on their site and tried to recreate it with papers I had on hand, but I made a couple mistakes on it. The box itself is easy to put together, especially when you make yours along with the video provided on the site, but I put my patterned papers on the wrong half of the box the first time around plus the box was much bigger than I wanted. It’s sized to enclose a glass Christmas tree ornament. I wanted a much smaller one. So second time around I nailed it!
I also want to show you the Christmas tree ornaments I made for my granddaughter. My plan is to make an ornament for her every year so she has something special to put on the tree and has a small start on her own collection of ornaments. I missed last year so I made two this year to catch up. I’m not sure if I’ve already posted the one from the year she was born. I have a feeling that I did but can’t find the post so I’ll show you all three here. You can click on each one for a close up look.
Here’s a funny story about the ornaments. I had to make two this year, so I started with the candles for 2016 and went looking in my book for a second one. I must really like that snowman ornament, because I stitched him up a second time!! It seemed familiar as I was cross stitching, but it didn’t hit me until it was all done.Oh, well! 🙂 I took out the stitches with her name and date and will save it for some future grandchild! And I now have Post-It notes in my cross stitch book indicating which I’ve already made.
