Stick it Down Design Team!

I have some fun news!

A few weeks ago, I saw a really nice card while surfing the internet, and – you know how this goes – followed a link here, a link there, down the yellow brick road and wound up here, Stick it Down Sketch Challenge Blog.  They were having a DT call so I applied and was accepted to their card team!!

It’s a monthly challenge.  Every month they have three sketches for you to use and link —    a one-page layout, a two-page layout, and a card — and three winners, one for each category.  The winners get a guest designer spot for a future post on the blog.  The link is located in the left hand column of their blog.  (Full details here.)

While my first official post for Stick it Down is in July (July 12 to be exact!) I’ve made a card for their June card sketch challenge and will be linking as soon as I finish this post!

Here’s the sketch:

Here’s my card:

I kind of turned it on its side.  For the rectangle on the left, I used Lil Inkers dies in my Ebosser.

P1100807webThe flower tag was in my box of extra cuts, so I don’t have any details about that except the brown pearls are from Recollections.

P1100806webThe tiny star on the tag is one of those $1 Studio G finds from Michaels (a punch); the sentiment was printed on my computer using Comic Sans font; the tag itself was made with scissors and the corner of a Creative Memories square punch.

I thought it came together pretty nicely, and now I have a birthday card for my sister!

There’s another bit of news about this design team:  When I applied, the owner asked if I had any experience designing card sketches.  I admitted that I didn’t but would be willing to give it a try.  I sent her several sketches and she liked them!  So you’ll see my sketches there some time in the future.  That’s pretty cool!

Anyway, that’s my big news.  I’m going to head on over to Stick it Down and link my card right now!
