Welcome to Day 2 of Paper Crafting World and Cooking With Cricut’s Home Décor Blog Hop! Nothing like a beautiful spring day to inspire you to clean and revitalize your home! All our projects for this two-day hop are projects to decorate your home. No cards or scrapbook layouts allowed! You should have arrived here from visiting Linsey’s blog, Outside the Lines. If not, be sure to go back and start at the beginning, Melin’s Cooking With Cricut blog, so you can get all the inspiration that both teams have to offer, and check out the prizes: $25.00 Gift Voucher to PaperCraftingWorld.com, a Quick Quotes Prize Pack including the Savvy Davvy Paper Pack – 12 pages of double sided cardstock weight paper – with 5 Vellum Quotes and some BoBunny Jewels. There’s also a chance to win a $15.00 gift certificate from Page-Kits.com.
The blog hop is spread over two days so you have plenty of time to check out all the projects AND get outside to enjoy the beautiful spring weather (or start your own home decor project!)
My project kind of evolved. I knew I wanted to make something useful, and had been toying with the idea of making a tissue box cover for a long time. I knew I wanted to use this Star Paper Lace file from Paper Crafting World, and when I saw this tutorial for the tissue box cover, I knew I had my match!!
The star paper lace is cut at 3.75 inches. I originally planned to use this in my classroom with just the primary colored stars (plus green) but when it was “finished,” it looked too plain. I went back to the PCW site and found this adorable baby bear in Baby Set 1, which was just the perfect touch! The ovals on the lid were made using my old Creative Memories oval-cutting tool.
Most of the card stock is from Staples! You don’t normally think of Staples when you shop for craft supplies, but they have reams of card stock in lots of different colors and it’s all acid free. You can’t beat the price and it’s perfect for keeping lots of the basic colors that you use all the time on hand. I always have a ream of their red (just beautiful), light blue, white and tan. They have lots of assorted packs, too.
Here are a few more photos of the box. You can click on any picture to make it bigger.
Now, to find a nursery to put this in!! 🙂
This blog hop is also a challenge! We hope you’ll link up your Home Décor project for a chance at winning one of our giveaways. One winner will be chosen by random draw and three others will be selected by the Design Team. Head on over to Cooking With Cricut for the guidelines and the link up.
Thank you for visiting my blog! You’re welcome to come back anytime! 🙂 Next up is Court from Court’s Craft Corner. Go check out what she’s made!

OH Evelyn, this is absolutely delightful! And useful too–LOVE that!!! I’ve never once made a tissue box cover but today you have given me the inspiration I needed for it as yours is just wonderful in every way! It’s great for a nursery yes, but also would be super in a childs bathroom, playroom, in a pre-school room–it’s really quite versatile! And looks like it was fun to design too, especially with that Star Paper Lace cut from Paper Crafting World! TFS your inspiration and wonderful project today! Big hugs xoxo
