Cuts from dingbat fonts

Some dingbat fonts cut really well on the Cricut.  This little bird is cut from the font DB Forest Friends from Lettering Delights.  That font has lots of cute pictures: mushrooms, apples, owls, suns, trees.

To cut these birdies from the font, I opened the SCAL program and used the Text tool, chose DB Forest Friends font from the menu, and typed “p” which gave me the bird picture.  I switched to the arrow key, selected the bird, and chose Object, Break Apart.  I copied the outline of the body and made it a shadow.  I made lots of copies of all the body parts and grouped them together.  That way I could make lots of birds at the same time.  My mats looked like this:

Now I have lots of cute little birds!  I made some tiny 3 x 3 notes, and have plenty left over for other cards or scrapbook pages.

I’ll show you some other cuts from that font soon!
